#2 | Progress Update: Systems Are Starting to Click
Systems beat willpower. Here's what I learned launching habit.ist, building with Linear, and creating content that actually feels sustainable.
Leveling up is one of the most challenging and rewarding things you can do. Challenging because you’re replacing comfortable patterns with intentional systems. Rewarding because you see the impact almost immediately.
What Went Well
I built my production infrastructure with Linear. All tasks are now organized with clear priorities. Urgent gets handled first. Important gets scheduled. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s functional—and it’ll improve with use. No rush.
I launched habit.ist on Product Hunt. It was exciting, fun, and taught me more than I expected. The process generated valuable conversations with friends and showed me the importance of a quality network for spreading ideas. Honestly, I expected nothing in terms of leads—and got nothing—but the learning was worth it. I now understand distribution better.
I started a new content series at The Sound Vault. Issue #1 was the Welcome Edition. Issue #2 focuses on Iceland, and researching hidden musical gems from that beautiful country has been genuinely enjoyable. I’m publishing the Iceland edition tomorrow. Here’s the first article.
I updated my entire Bandcamp catalog. All my music now has refreshed covers, proper organization. This was years of work finally given the presentation it deserved. It felt like closing loops I’d left open for too long.
I’m testing new habits and nutrition protocols. I’ll integrate these systems more formally next week and document what works.
What I’m Learning
Systems beat willpower. Linear forces clarity. The Sound Vault series creates momentum. Structure makes execution easier.
Distribution is a skill. Product Hunt didn’t generate leads, but it taught me how ideas spread—and that quality network > mass reach.
Joy sustains effort. Researching Icelandic music wasn’t work. When you’re genuinely curious, content creation becomes natural.
Next: I’m refining priorities, publishing #2, and documenting the habit/nutrition integration.
The systems are starting to click.
